This fast-growing field, known as proteomics, identifies and measures proteins and their various forms (proteoforms) that link genes and disease in order to diagnose and treat threats to human health.
When the body develops cancer, heart disease, or other disorders, the problem is almost always traced back to changes in particular proteomes. Studying abnormal proteoforms provides a pathway to understanding and combating these diseases.
Despite the pivotal role proteoforms play in human health and disease, most have yet to be identified and measured.
This lack of information about proteoforms limits progress in detecting and treating disease. CLP is uniquely equipped to close this gap by identifying and measuring “unknown” proteins with speed and accuracy.

Advancing World-Leading Protein Science
CLP is at the forefront of the Human Proteoform Project, a big science initiative to map the entire human proteome. In addition to measuring every proteoform in the body, the Project will spur the advancement of new technologies to simplify analyses and reduce costs. The Project will also revolutionize medicine by unlocking:
- Greater understanding of the precise changes in proteins and their many forms that cause disease
- Identification of new proteoform-enabled targets for drug development and delivery
- A new class of precision drugs diagnostics to better treat and catch disease earlier
